Stephen is a Managing Director and General Counsel of iCapital, where he oversees legal and compliance matters for the company. Stephen is also co-chair of the firm’s Corporate Risk Management Committee. He is also a member of the company’s Operating Committee. Prior to joining iCapital, Stephen was Chief Operating Partner and Co-Chair of the Corporate Department at Herrick Feinstein, an AmLaw 200 law firm, where his practice focused on hedge funds and private equity funds, as well as mergers and acquisitions and general corporate matters. Previously, he was COO, General Counsel, and Chief Compliance Officer at Spectrum Group Management, a hedge fund and private equity fund focused on investments in special situations and distressed debt. Before joining Spectrum, Stephen was a Partner in the Corporate Department at Kramer Levin in New York. Other roles have included COO, CFO, General Counsel, and Divisional President at portfolio companies sponsored by private equity funds such as Wasserstein & Co. and Quadrangle. Earlier in his career, Stephen acted as Assistant General Counsel at AIG and as an attorney in private practice. Stephen received a BA from the University of Pennsylvania and a JD from Columbia University.
